SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - A gun show scheduled for this weekend in Saratoga Springs will go on as planned but officials who run the venue hosting the event say they'll review future bookings at the publicly owned property.
Directors of the Saratoga Springs City Center Authority on Wednesday rejected requests from about 20 people who sought the cancellation of the gun show scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
Multpile groups are planning protests outside the City Center dueing the show.
The six-member authority listened to gun show opponents before announcing its support to go ahead with the show, organized by Mechanicville-based New Eastcoast Arms Collectors Associates.
Cathy Petronis of New Eastcoast Arms Collectors Associates says that the group will go along with the request from city officials urging exhibitors not to display semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines similar to the ones used in last month's Connecticut school shooting.
Opponents had sought the event's cancellation after 20 children and six adults were killed last month by a gunman at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Three other gun shows are scheduled at the city center this year.
