ALBANY, N.Y. - During Governor Cuomo's State of the State address on Wednesday, he made it clear de-criminalizing marijuana is on his agenda for this session.
Under New York State law, it is a violation if marijuana is found on a person and a misdemeanor if it is in public view. Cuomo says he wants to de-criminalize having 15 grams or less.
Cuomo did not go into specifics of what he will propose to the legislature, but said his focus is preventing racial disparities and youth from being stuck with a permanent record.
Cuomo says 69 percent of people arrested are under the age of 30.
