Judge upholds NYC teacher's firing over wine

NEW YORK (AP) - A judge has ruled that New York City private school had a right to fire a teacher because she let students drink wine during a trip to France.
Teacher Daniele Benatouil got written permission to let the six students drink wine from the students' parents. But administrators at the Calhoun School never granted permission for students to drink before the 2010 trip.
Benatouil was fired after other Calhoun students saw a video of the six students sipping wine in Paris.
The Daily News reports that Judge Shlomo Hagler of Manhattan state Supreme Court ruled that the school had a reasonable policy banning alcohol on school trips.
The judge denied Benatouil's wrongful-termination lawsuit.
Benatouil's lawyer said he is considering an appeal.
