ALBANY, N.Y. - A man convicted of carrying a container of macaroni salad which was hiding 500 bags of heroin has been sentenced to state prison.
Albany County District Attorney David Soares say 42-year-old Andrew Northern, of Troy, was sentenced Tuesday morning to three years behind bars plus two years post-release supervision after pleading guilty in December to one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Northern was found to be in possession of the drugs when he was pulled over by State Police in September 2012 and Troopers smelled marijuana and asked to search his car. In search of the vehicle, the Trooper
uncovered 500 bags of heroin that were hidden in a large container of
