SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - A suspect is in custody relating to the death of an 82-year-old Schenectady woman, police say.
Schenectady Police say the suspect, whose identity has not been released, is a parolee who has been arrested and is being held on unrelated charges while being questioned on the homicide of Mary Greco.
Greco was found killed inside 1402 Stanford Street in Schenectady on New Year's Day.
Police say Greco was a retired nun and her neighbors describe her as a kind and caring person.
She was a frequent attendee of Saint Luke's Church on State Street.
The pastor at Saint Luke's tells NEWS10 Mary had a passion for helping
people. "How sad that a kind soul like her would meet such a violent
end," he said.
The investigation is ongoing.
