FONDA, N.Y. - Funeral services for former Montgomery County sheriff Ronald "Rush" Emery were held in Fonda Saturday.
Emery, 76, had been battling a long illness.
Saturday, those who worked alongside Emery said he was a man full of passion for the job that he did.
"He did the right thing no matter what it was he was on every incident no matter what it was he represented everyone in this county to the best of his ability and did everything he could to make sure he handled things properly," said Jeffrey T. Smith, Montgomery Co. Undersheriff.
Emery served as sheriff for 23 years, retiring in 1997.
