
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, N.Y. - Calling hours are being held for the well-known former sheriff of Montgomery County.
Friends and families are paying their respects for Ron Emery, who died last week, at the age of 76.
Emery served as sheriff for 23 years before retiring in 1997.
He is credited with helping introduce many new services to Montgomery County, such as a 911 system and an inmate GED program.
Years later, the county's public safety building, which he helped get build, was named after him.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m., in the Fonda Reformed Church.
