ALBANY, N.Y. - The Albany County Sheriff's Office hosted the Rape Aggression Defense, or RAD, training program Friday in en effort to cut down on violent crimes and sex assaults.
For three days, the training program has given 23 members of the Albany County Sheriff's Office gear such as body protectors to teach a combination of self defense and personal safety training.
They say knowing how to protect yourself during a random attack could mean the difference between life and death. RAD trains people to best fend off an attack, dramatically reducing violent crime rates in communities that host RAD courses.
The RAD program has been around for more than 20 years funded by asset seizure money collected from criminals.
