SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy has named Brian Kilcullen the new Police Chief for the city on Monday.
After 19 years with the Schenectady Police Department, Kilcullen was sworn in as Chief Monday at 11 a.m. in the Schenectady City Hall Rotund by Mayor McCarthy who says he chose Kilcullen knowing he will be "respective and responsive" as Chief.
Kilcullen has spent the past four-and-a-half years as Assistant Police Chief under Mark Chaires, who stepped down as Chief of Police on Monday, December 31st.
Chaires said he is taking a break from law enforcement to concentrate on completing his Ph.D in Criminal Justice.
