SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Schenectady Police Department has arrested a man following a vehicle and foot pursuit that occurred in the city Wednesday afternoon.
Police say 35-year-old Edwin Villalongo, of 1405 State Street, was observed driving at a high rate of speed, when they attempted to stop him in the parking lot of Cumberland Farms in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood, police say he drove off. Police say shortly after he attempted to ram a marked police unit with the 2006 BMW that he was operating.
Officers engaged in a vehicle pursuit that lasted about four minutes before Villalongo abandoned his car at the dead end of Davis Terrace and then led police on a foot pursuit down the side of a hill, through a wooded area, where he was eventually taken into custody after a struggle.
Villalongo was found with an outstanding arrest warrant for Menacing 2nd-degree.
He was also charged with Reckless Endangerment 1st-degree, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Office, Obstructing Governmental Administration, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Trespass,
Reckless Driving and other Vehicle and traffic violations.
