Daniel Stec to take office in Queensbury

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. - State Assemblyman-elect Daniel G. Stec, of Queensbury, will take office at noon on New Year's Day in the Warren County Municipal Center.

State Supreme Court Justice David Krogmann will officiate at the swearing in ceremony.

Stec was elected in November to represent the new 114th Assembly District, which includes Warren, Essex and portions of northern Washington and northern Saratoga counties.

Stec attended and graduated from Clarkson University.

After graduation, he entered the Navy's nuclear power program, where he served for eight years.

While still serving, Stec and his college sweetheart and wife of 21 years, Hilary, bought a dairy farm on South Bay in Fort Ann, where they tried to sell Christmas trees.

When their son was born, they decided to sell the farm so that Hilary could stay at home with the baby.

Stec then worked for five years as an engineer in manufacturing, at which point he became involved with local government, first serving on a zoning board and then for two terms as a town councilman.

For nine years, he has served as the Queensbury Town Supervisor and two as Chairman of the Warren County Board of Supervisors.
