NISKAYUNA, N.Y. - The first Capital Region baby of 2013 was born at Bellevue Woman's Center at 12:17 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
The Capital Region's first baby of the year, Zaniya Janae Buess, was supposed to be born on Christmas, but Zaniya's mother Martia Higginbotham of Schenectady says she decided to make an even bigger entrance on New Year's Day.
Zaniya shares a birthday with her father, Seth Buess, as he was also born on New Year's Day.
Zaniya was born weighing seven pounds and two ounces, and measuring 18 ½ inches long at the Bellevue Woman's Center, a service of Ellis Hospital, located at 2210 Troy-Schenectady Road in Niskayuna.
The Center reported the mother and baby as healthy.
Happy birthday to all the New Year babies, from NEWS10!
