Couple rescued after ATV crashes through ice

WESTERLO, N.Y. - Volunteer firefighters responded to a snow-covered marsh off County Route 405 in Westerlo Saturday, where a husband and wife had crashed through the ice on their ATV.

The man spent a half-hour in chest-high cold water trying to free the ATV before finally calling for help.

He, his wife, and one firefighter were treated for minor injuries resulting from exposure to the cold.
