Former Montgomery Co. sheriff Ron Emery dead at 74

MONTGOMERY CO., N.Y. - Former Montgomery Co Sheriff Ron Emery, 74, has died.

The Montgomery Co. undersheriff confirmed Monday that Emery has passed away. He was with his family.

Emery was sheriff for 23 years in Montgomery County before retiring in 1997.

Sheriff Michael J. Amato and Undersheriff Jeffery T Smith both stated," This is a huge loss to the Law Enforcement community and to the people of Montgomery County."

Funeral arrangements have not yet been released.
