COLONIE, N.Y. - Wolf Road is very busy despite Saturday's gloomy weather, and NEWS10 spoke with a few drivers earlier about what it's like to be on the roads right now with this snow coming down.
Many drivers brave enough to weather the snow Saturday say it's a challenge to maneuver on these slushy icy roads. Dangerous for some as they slid off the road or into other cars.
"It's nasty out there. The slush is making it real slippery. The roads are horrible. They need to have more plows out," said Troy resident Misty Gallo. "My car, it fishtails, and I have snow tires and everything. It's bad."
Albany police say they've had 16 weather related accidents since noon Saturday. According to police, a mistake commonly made by drivers is not leaving enough space between vehicles.
"Don't rush. Leave enough space between cars. I've been driving in the snow for many years already and it's important to make sure you give yourself a buffer between cars to make sure you have time to stop or if anything happens," said Miguel Hernandez of Colonie.
And for those who stayed off the roads it's been a long day of shoveling.
"I try to anticipate that if we're going to have a lot of snow so I throw my snow in the middle so that as the season goes on I have room so that it's not piled up and I have to throw it way over something," said Steve Axelrod of Albany.
