Mass. - The first
candidate for John Kerry's senate seat made a public announcement Friday.
U.S. congressman Ed Markey
says he's running for Kerry's senate seat in the special election.
President Obama has nominated
Kerry for secretary of state and he is expected be confirmed easily.
Markey, a democrat, has
already sent out a fundraising letter in which he promises to tackle issues
like gun control, social security, and the environment.
He was elected to his 19th
term in the U.S. House in November.
