Homicide investigation leads to arrest in Vermont


NEWBURY, Vt. - The Vermont State Police's homicide investigation has led to an arrest.

On the night of December 25th, police received a report of multiple gun shots fired at a residence located near Doe Hill and Snakes Road.

The initial report stated that Dale Rock, 43, had been shot, and that the shooting suspect had fled the scene in a dark colored Subaru Legacy.

Troopers arrived at the scene of Rock's residence to discover Dale Rock, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Members of the Criminal Investigation B Troop are investigating the incident, and members of the Crime Scene Search Team are processing the crime scene.

Vermont State Police Detectives have arrested Anne-Marie Whiteway, 51, of Bradford, Vermont, for the shooting death of Dale Rock.

Ms. Whiteway is being charged with second degree murder.

Judge Manley ordered Whiteway held without bail, and she is to be arraigned in Windsor County District Court on December 27th.

She will be lodged at the Southern State Correctional Center in Springfield, Vermont.

Rock's cause of death has been determined by autopsy to be from a single gun-shot wound to the head, and the manner of death had been determined homicide.
