SARATOGA
SPRINGS, N.Y. – An autopsy by a
forensic pathologist at Saratoga Hospital revealed that Maplewood Manor resident Carlton
Decker, 85, died of a heart attack.
The cause
of death was "heart attack", but the official autopsy report and
toxicology results are pending. Typically toxicology results take roughly
90 days, although the official written autopsy report is expected in 4-6 weeks.
Decker had
been a resident of the Maplewood Manor for several years, and was found in an
exterior courtyard near a door by staff who were looking for him after
discovering his absence in a routine bed check.
Originally
it was thought that Mr. Carlton may have exited his room through his second
story window, on to the roof of a first floor wing beneath, but law enforcement
authorities are now following up on a number of different leads that have
developed since the initial investigation. Specifics as to what those
leads are or what is being followed up upon will not be disclosed at this time,
since it is a pending investigation.
No further
information will be forthcoming from the District Attorney until the conclusion
of the investigation by the Village of Ballston Spa Police Department.
