TROY, N.Y. - A man is under arrest, accused of burglarizing a Troy frat house.
Police say Robert Fogarty broke a window to get into the Phi Lambda Phi, RPI fraternity house on Pawling Avenue, setting off an alarm.
When officers arrived, they spotted him walking out the front door with an unknown item. After a short chase, officers were able to arrest him.
Fogarty, who was already on parole for a burglary incident, faces additional charges including burglary, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
Captain John Cooney of Troy PD says burglaries are common around this time of year but there are some simple ways to prevent a situation like this from ruining your holiday.
"Make the house looked lived in, make the vehicles looked used as much as possible and make the doorways look accessible. The more signs there is of human habitation the less chance you have a burglar come and ruin your Christmas," said Cooney.
