SAND LAKE, N.Y. - The state of emergency in Sand Lake has been lifted and the emergency shelter there has been closed after crews restored power to the majority of area residents.
On Friday a powerful storm knocked out power to thousands in the area and because of the cold temperatures, the red cross set up the shelter at the averill park, fire house.
Officials say most of the outages were caused by large trees uprooted that knocked down power lines.
