NISKAYUNA, N.Y. - The Sunoco and Stewart's in Niskayuna on corner of Route 7 and Vly Road are in a gas war that began last week when Stewart's brought back gas pumps to the shop, but the battle hit a record low Thursday morning, when the Sunoco across the street dropped to $3 and Stewart's followed with $2.99.
Thursday afternoon at Stewart's, regular was back up to $3.48 - but that changed within minutes after Sunoco dropped to $3.44. Stewart's, trying to keep up and win the battle, dropped back to $3.43 and that's where it's been for the past few hours, the war hitting a bit of a stale mate.
Customers have been packing the pumps all day trying to cash in on the low prices.
"We were starting with prices that make sense for what we're paying for gasoline and then we started to match what he was matching and by the weekend we were down around 3.17 and weve been staying now a penny under where they are," said Tom Mailey Stewart's Spokesperson.
