5 charged in cocaine bust in Warren County

LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. - Authorities say they've charged five people and seized more than 2 pounds of cocaine while busting up a drug ring operating in two Warren County towns as part of an investigation that began in July 2011.
The Warren County Sheriff's Office says that police seized about 2½ pounds of cocaine over a one-week span in the neighboring towns of Lake Luzerne and Lake George. They additionally seized several firearms and approximately $5,000.
Officials say the leader of the drug ring was 28-year-old Michael Verlinger of Lake Luzerne, where police say they found most of the cocaine. He pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment Wednesday.
Also arrested on drug charges is a 54-year-old Christopher Scully, from Queensbury, who owns Longshots bar and restaurant in Lake George. Police say the bar was the site of drug sales. Additionally facing drug charges are, 29-year-old Vincent Varley Jr, of Lake Luzerne, 26-year-old Mark Zibro Jr, of Warrensburg, and 22-year-old Anne Frost, of Lake George.

This case is being investigated by the Warren County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Enforcement Unit. The NEU was assisted by investigators from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Department of Homeland Security.

Additional arrests are expected.
