Montgomery County Supreme Court Judge Guy Tomlinson has certified the results of the 46th Senate District race with Assemblyman George Amedore the winner by 37 votes.
Upon verification from the five county board of elections final numbers, the Judge certified the final tally of 63,141 to 63,104 in favor of Amedore, a republican, over democrat Ceclia Tkaczyk.
This was the last Senate race that remained unresolved after November's elections. However, the Tkaczyk Campaign still isn't backing down saying in a statement to NEWS10: "There are still hundreds of outstanding objections that have to be ruled on by
the Appellate Court. Every voter has a right to have their voice heard in the
electoral process, despite efforts to silence them due to minor errors and
incorrect instructions. When all the votes are counted Cecilia Tkaczyk will be
certified the winner of this election."
This rule strengthens the hand of Republicans in a bipartisan coalition that will run the chamber beginning Jan. 1 for the next two years.
The district was created by Republicans earlier this year to help protect their majority in a state where Democrats have a nearly 2-to-1 voter enrollment advantage.
