NEWTOWN, Conn. – It was a show of solidarity in the wake of heartbreaking sadness as hundreds filled the pews of the Saint Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Newtown.
Twenty-six candles - one for each of the victims - flickered Friday as grief-stricken residents gathered for a vigil in memory of those killed in a shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary.
There were so many visitors that hundreds more lined the perimeter, coming together, lighting candles, praying and grieving.
In this small, close knit community, it was a horrific day for parents with kids at Sandy Hook. Even the younger members of the community are struggling to make sense of the violence.
