NY ranked last in U.S. volunteering

NEW YORK - A new study by the Corporation for National and Community Service has New York ranked dead last in volunteering - with just 20 percent of New Yorkers giving their time to others.

In 2011, New York ranked 50^th, behind every other state and the District of Columbia.

Religious institutes benefitted the most from the few New Yorkers who volunteered - taking 30-percent of the total volunteer time.
