SALEM, N.Y. - Early Wednesday afternoon, a car crash in the Town of Salem resulted in the air-lifting of a Shushan resident to the Albany Medical Center.
Steven R. Blake, 63, or 744 Juniper Swamp Road in Shushan, was driving east on County Route 64 when he lost control of his vehicle due to a medical episode, and subsequently struck a tree.
Blake had to be extricated from the vehicle, and suffered chest pain and a momentary loss of consciousness, according to police.
Blake was treated on the scene by Salem EMS and then transported to the Salem Central School, where a landing zone had been set up. He was then transported to the Albany Medical Center by helicopter.
