DUANESBURG, N.Y. - On Monday, New York State troopers arrested a 28-year-old man they say stole an ATM and cash from a juke box.
Scott Clapper, of Schoharie, was arrested during a routine traffic stop in Cobleskill after a trooper discovered 90 crispy, new $20 bills totaling $1,800, and several hundred dollar bills within the car.
State Police had been contacted by the Quaker Inn in Duanesburg Sunday night, saying the ATM was stolen and juke box broken into and connected Clapper with the crime.
During an investigation, troopers also discovered items in Clapper's home linking him to a burglary in Schenectady County and an attempted burglary at Jonathan's Restaurant in Duanesburg.
Since Thanksgiving, State Police
and the Montgomery and Schoharie County Sheriff's Offices have been
investigating numerous commercial burglaries in Schoharie, Schenectady
and Montgomery Counties.
Clapper has been charged with two counts of Burglary 3rd-degree and one
count of Attempted Burglary. Additional arrests are anticipated.
He has been remanded to the Schenectady County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.
