LATHAM, N.Y. - State police say the mystery woman who handed a trooper $1,000 cash as a "thank you" this holiday, has come forward.
On Sunday, December 2nd, Trooper Christopher Maniscalco was answering a complaint in Guilderland when the woman approached him and proceeded to tell him, "Trooper I always see you around, doing a good job and wanted to say Merry Christmas and thank you."
The woman handed him a holiday card, then Trooper Maniscalco thanked the woman and went back to his call. After his shift, he opened the card which contained $1,000 cash.
By law, the State Police cannot accept such a gift, and needed the woman to identify specifically where she would like the donation to go.
The woman came forward and was positively identified by Trooper Maniscalco. The generous gift was returned to her, and she has since donated the full sum to the Stewarts Holiday Match program at the Stewarts Shop in Guilderland.
The good-hearted donor wishes to remain anonymous and State Police will respect her wishes.
