BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. - Saratoga County District Attorney Jim Murphy says Eric Loeser was sentenced to over 20 years in prison Monday after being convicted of kidnapping and sexually abusing three young boys.
Loeser, 22, of Clifton Park, also faces 20 years post-release supervision after pleading guilty to Kidnapping 2nd-degree, Criminal Sex Act 1st-degree and 3rd-degree and Sexual Abuse 2nd-degree.
"Loeser is the definition of a child predator," DA Murphy said. "He lies in wait until an unsuspecting child comes along and then lures the child
in building a trusting and friendly relationship on the surface with his sexual
desire raging just below the surface."
Loeser, a former EMT, met the first victim while
responding to a call to medically help the then
15-years-old boy. He offered to "runaway" with the child and in
July 2011 abducted the child from his home.
Murphy says over the next 20 days, Loeser sexually assaulted the boy and hid him from law enforcement who were actively looking
for him. He took the victim to Pennsylvania, Vermont and throughout NY
state before ultimately dumping the child off at an apartment complex
in Buffalo. The child ultimately found help from an unknown neighbor in Buffalo and called for
help.
Loeser befriended a
second young boy, then 9-years-old, and his family in 2009 and began acting as the child's "big
brother." Loeser then allegedly encouraged the child to claim that his own parents were abusing him, with the
promise that he would then adopt the boy. Over the course of several
months, Loeser is accused of sexually assaulting the little boy.
The third victim, age 13, was befriended by Loeser when he claimed to
have rendered medical
assistance as an EMT to the child's injured friend. Then, after
establishing a friendship with the young teen, Loeser encouraged the
child
to become 'emancipated' and live with him and sexually assaulted him.
Loeser's co-defendant, Timothy Kaye - a former Saratoga County Sheriff's Office and Ballston Spa Police Dispatcher - pleaded guilty to Kidnapping and Criminal Sex Act in connection to his contact with one of the three victims. He was sentenced to 8 years in prison in October.
