SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – "This is going to be a blessing for us," said Catherine Smith of her new ‘Habitat for Humanity' home, moments before she entered it.
The home is located at 217 Marriot Avenue, and on Sunday afternoon it was filled with friends, family and program volunteers.
Grapes, crackers and cheese were laid out on a pink-cloaked table, and friends nibbled on the snacks as they admired the new home's beautifully furnished floors, gleaming counter-tops and white fenced front porch.
"It's gorgeous," squealed Catherine Smith, a laboratory technician for The Endocrine Group of Albany, as she and her honor-student son, Camaryn, opened the door and stepped inside.
The Smiths jovially anticipate spending the holidays in their new home and neighborhood.
