RENSSELAER, N.Y. - A stand-off between police and a man threatening to harm whoever entered the residence brought a crowd of officers to Washington Avenue in Rensselaer early Sunday afternoon.
A domestic argument between a mother and her 24-year-old son, Ricky LaCoy, resulted in the request for police interference, according to the Rensselaer Police Department.
LaCoy's mother, who was able to exit the home without injury, called police after Ricky began violently damaging property inside.
When police officers arrived, Ricky barricaded himself inside of his bedroom, claiming to have a weapon and stating that he intended to harm with force, anyone who entered the residence.
The stand-off between Ricky and members of the Police Department lasted about one hour in front of the home, located at 119 Washington Avenue.
After around an hour of communication with outside officers, Ricky surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody without incident.
