CLARKSVILLE, N.Y. - The Albany County Sheriff's Office opened the doors of their new station to the public on Saturday.
"We've taken a fifty year old building, refurbished it and made it into our new station. By doing so, we're saving around 8 to 10,000 dollars a month through the consolidation," said Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple. "We were able to get federal grants to do this. I'm really proud that our deputies were able to move everybody in and that inmate labor then painted it. Jail electricians came out to run wires. We got into this building with a minimal amount of tax-payer money, and it's much more efficient for our use. It was a win-win for Albany County."
The Sheriff's Office offered an open house between noon and three p.m., complete with walk-through tours, K-9 demonstrations, emergency medical services demonstrations and a holiday toy donation drive.
The new station is located at 58 Verda Avenue in Clarksville.
