Cohoes Fire Department on call to pick up toy donations from homes

COHOES, N.Y. - Cohoes Fire Department is extinguishing more than fires this holiday season.

They're extinguishing gift shortages, too, collecting new and used toys to distribute to hundreds of children within the community.

On Sunday, December 9th, members of the Fire Department will be on call to make pick-up runs to collect any used toys up for donation from donators' homes.

This is something new to 2012 that the fire station is trying, hopeful that it will incentivize more toy donation this year.

Pick-up times will run between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Donators can call George Primeau Junior at 857-1031 or Russ Coonradt at 334-1579 to schedule a pick-up from their house.

"We really just want to make kids smile this year," said George Primeau Junior of the new program's goal.

Toys and monetary donations can also be dropped off at the Central Fire Station, located at 25 Central Avenue in Cohoes.
