EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. - Police officers are camping out in a tent on the roof of an East Greenbush Walmart on Saturday night.
The officers will be there from 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night, hoping to meet their charitable goal of $10,000 dollars.
The money is being raised for the Special Olympics of New York and the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
A pulley system, using a bucket that the officers lower down from the roof to collect donations, is being used to pool the money.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a year-round, grassroots fundraising campaign by law enforcement agencies that benefits the local Special Olympics Program.
Participating officers from the East Greenbush Police Department, Saratoga Springs Police Department, New York State Police and New York National Guard will be on the roof of the Walmart store located at 279 Troy Road in East Greenbush, for 36 straight hours, collecting donations.
