ALBANY, N.Y. - Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy will host a Pearl Harbor Day Remembrance Ceremony at the Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion Post No. 1520 Friday morning.
December 7, 2012 marks the 71st anniversary of the Japanese attack that resulted in the death of 2,390 service members and 49 civilians. The county, in conjunction with the USS Slater Association, will honor six veterans for their service as military personnel during the attacks at Pearl Harbor that launched the United States into World War II.
Congressman Paul Tonko, Assemblyman John McEneny, Rensselaer County Executive Kathy Jimino and Town of Colonie Supervisor Paula Mahan will be joining McCoy at the event.
This year's honorees include:
- Mr. Charles Ebel: Seaman 1st Class, USS Curtis
- Mr. Robert Grimm: Carpenters Mate 1st Class, USS Cummings
- Mr. Adolph Krenn: Seaman 1st Class, USS West Virginia
- Mr. William Langston: Fireman, USS West Virginia
- Mr. Edward Bartholomew: Gunner's Mate 1st Class, USS Pennsylvania
- Mr. Leonard W. Dooren: Chief Warrant Officer, USS New Orleans
