SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - Thousands of people are expected to fill the streets of downtown Saratoga Springs when the city hosts its annual Victorian Streetwalk Thursday night.
The focus of Thursday night's holiday event is the stretch of Broadway and nearby streets lined with bars, restaurants, clothing stores and boutiques.
The Saratoga Springs Police Department says a section of Broadway will be closed to vehicle traffic from 5 p.m. until about 10:30 p.m. Police say anyone heading to the downtown area can expect traffic delays during the event.
The Victorian Streetwalk features live entertainment on downtown streets, with groups of strolling carolers dressed in period costumes, and a visit by Santa Claus.
Begun in 1986 as a way to draw holiday shoppers to downtown businesses, the Victorian Streetwalk has grown into one of Saratoga largest public events.
