Hearing to look at budget impact on NY libraries

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The Assembly is holding a public hearing to look at the impact the 2012-2013 state budget has had on public libraries across New York state.

Assemblyman Bob Reilly will take testimony at the Legislative Office Building in Albany Thursday on issues related to how state funding is being used. Reilly chairs the Assembly's Libraries and Education Technology Committee.

The committee is interested in hearing about the programs and services libraries are providing in their communities and how much funding they'll need in the future. The committee also is seeking testimony on how libraries are using collaboration and technology to make up for tighter budgets.

Among those expected to testify are state officials, representatives of library systems, and advocacy groups.
