Events back on at Albany's Washington Ave. Armory

ALBANY (AP) - An Albany entertainment venue has reached an agreement with the city to resume hosting events that were put on hold after a dance party turned violent, resulting in injuries to three police officers.

The management of the Washington Avenue Armory announced Tuesday that they reached the agreement with city officials after a month of negotiations following a melee outside the downtown arena on the night of Oct. 18.

Police say some of the estimated 2,000 people waiting to get inside for a "foam party" became combative and fought with officers when they tried to disperse the crowd because of safety issues.

Armory officials say as part of their agreement with the city, they're restricting the venue's floor capacity to about 2,000 attendees, less than half of the previous full capacity.
