COLONIE, N.Y. - The Colonie Police Department says they have made an arrest for the arson which occurred on Elm Street on November 15th.
Police say 26-year-old Khadijah Hopkins, of Troy, was originally arrested for burglarizing 96 Elm Street on the day of the fire, but was additionally charged Monday night with the arson and for the death of a dog found deceased in its crate in the residence.
Hopkins is an acquaintance of the resident and was aware that he was not home on the day of the incident. She stole several items from the residence including a Flat Screen Television, Laptop Computer, 2 Playstation Consoles and several video games before setting the house on fire, police say.
All of the stolen items except the television and computer were recovered from Hopkins's home.
