QUEENSBURY, N.Y. - A lengthy investigation into the theft of over $50,000 dollars worth of diamonds and jewelry from the Kay Jewelers in Aviation Mall in Queensbury has resulted in the arrest of a former manager of the store.
29-year-old Eric S. Powell of Malta has been charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
The investigation into the stolen Kay Jewelers jewelry started in December of 2011, by the Warren County Sheriff's Office and Loss Prevention Managers from the Sterling Jewelers Corporation.
A variety of merchandise consisting of diamond rings, diamond pendants and Movado watches had gone missing from the store.
Police determined through investigating, that over a period of time between around May 2011 and December 2011, Kay Jewelers' store manager Eric Powell stole the merchandise and sold it on eBay.
When Powell first learned of the investigation, he resigned from employment at Kay Jewelers.
Powell was arraigned in Warren County Court and sent to the Warren County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000.00 cash bail or $30,000.00 bond.
He is due to reappear in County Court on December 13th at 9:00 am.
