COHOES, N.Y. - Saturday is a day filled with holiday spirit for Cohoes.
Along with downtown Cohoes businesses participating in "Small Business Saturday," the city will have its annual holiday tree-lighting festival, its third annual "Souper Saturday" and a donation drive for children's toys by Cohoes fire-fighters.
Those who want to participate in "Small Business Saturday," to promote their local economy and indulge in the unique gifts and goods that are offered by small local businesses, are being directed to downtown Cohoes for great local shopping.
Between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., the Cohoes Senior Center will host its third annual "Souper Saturday," where several restaurants and community groups will be offering soup tastings.
All proceeds from the soup tasting tickets, which are $5 dollars per individual or $12 dollars per family, will go to the Cohoes Senior Center to help fund their offered programs.
Santa Claus will also be in attendance at the Cohoes Senior Center for the soup tasting, between noon and two in the afternoon, so bring your camera!
Cohoes fire-fighters will be outside of the Visitor Center collecting donated children's toys for 'Cheer for Children' between noon and three in the afternoon.
Free hay-rides through Cohoes will be offered from 11:30 a.m. through 2:00 p.m., leaving from the Visitor Center for a tour through the downtown business district.
At 5:30 p.m., there will be a community sing-along in Silliman Park, and at 6:00 p.m., Santa Claus will be escorted by the Cohoes Fire Department to join in the park for the 6:05 p.m. Christmas tree-lighting ceremony!
