HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. - The Hoosick Falls Police Department says a single-car accident in the town of Hoosick has resulted in a fatality of a 26-year-old woman.
Police say the single-car accident occurred around 1:15 p.m. Monday on Route 102 in the town of Hoosick, killing Joe-De Wilbur, of Greenwich.
State police say Wilbur was traveling east with her two children, ages 5 and 7, in the car, when she lost control of her 2002 Ford Ranger pick-up truck and crossed into the westbound lane. The truck then left the roadway and overturned. Wilbur was found to be deceased at the scene.
The two children were transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. One child sustained a minor injury.
Police say the investigation is ongoing as to the cause of the accident; however it appears that speed and a slippery roadway contributed to the accident.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
