DA, police chief meet on assault allegations against 3 officers

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy met with the Saratoga Springs Chief of Police Chris Cole on Monday to discuss the suspension of three officers accused of being involved in an assault last week.

Three officers - Braim, Mark Leffler and John Guzek - have been suspended without pay after the dispute that allegedly took place around 12:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12th at Dango Fitzgerald's bar on Caroline Street.

Murphy says he will speak with members of the police department and the victim about the allegations while a criminal and internal investigation are ongoing.

The victim accused the officers, who were off-duty at the time, of assaulting him.

Murphy says he has not obtained any official statements from the officers regarding a criminal investigation.

The police department has not announced what charges, if any, would be filed against the three officers.

The male victim, who remains unnamed, did not sustain any serious injuries.
