Albany County man gets prison for kidnap attempt

Posted:

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a New York man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for trying to arrange the abduction of a business associate in an attempt to get $400,000.

Judge Dan Lamont sentenced 53-year-old James Hennesey of Voorheesville following his guilty plea to attempted kidnapping in September.

According to Albany County prosecutors, Hennesey, who was in the restoration and flood recovery business, contacted a third party proposing to kidnap the business associate and ransom him for money Hennesey believed he was owed.

State police investigated the case.
