JAY, N.Y. - There has been a tragic end for an endearing nuisance in the Adirondacks; the infamous bear named "Yellow Yellow" that was shot by a hunter.
The black bear, named for the two yellow tags placed on her ears by the Department of Environmental Conservation, became famous for her stealthy talents.
Yellow Yellow was caught red-pawed stealing a backpack earlier this year seen in a video posted on YouTube.
But Yellow Yellow's real claim to fame is for being the only known bear that could actually break into bear-resistant canisters used for safeguarding food.
Yellow Yellow lived in the forest preserve just outside of Lake Placid.
She was shot in late October in the Town of Jay.
