COLONIE, N.Y. - The holiday shopping season kicked off with a mega shopping spree in Colonie Wednesday as dozens of Toys for Tots volunteers flooded the Toys R Us on Wolf Road to pick out toys for kids in need.
Carts were loaded with toys Wednesday morning with the U.S. Marine Corp enlisting the help of Dunkin Donuts to help make the holidays a little brighter for kids of all ages.
Dunkin Donuts donated $25,000 towards Toys for Tots, buying about 3,000 gifts for kids this holiday season, plus $5,000 to buy winter coats for kids in need.
After all the volunteers finished their shopping, the toys were loaded up and shipped to the Toys for Tots warehouse in plenty of time to be sorted, wrapped and ready for holiday delivery.
