COLONIE, N.Y. - A new Albany County Veterans Resource Center opened in Colonie on Sunday, in honor of Veterans Day.
Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy announced the new center at the Soldier On administrative offices located at 55 Heritage Lane.
The center is a collaborative product, the result of a partnership between Albany County and Soldier On, a non-profit organization that provides transitional housing and support services to veterans.
Soldier On provides temporary financial assistance for rent, security deposits, moving costs, childcare and emergency supplies, as well as help obtaining Veterans Administration benefits and transportation.
Congressman Gibson, Colonie Town Supervisor Paula Mahan, Soldier On CEO John Downing and United States 10th Mountain Division Colonel David Sutherland were in attendance for the announcement.
