Operation Fill The Truck underway in Colonie


COLONIE, N.Y. - The Town of Colonie has offered Memorial Town Hall as a collection location for relief items for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Operation Fill The Truck is being sponsored by the Latham Fire House, collecting items to be brought to New York City, Long Island and New Jersey. They are collecting the below items at the firehouse located at 226 Old Loudon Rd. Wednesday through Sunday, November 11, or you may drop off items at Memorial Town Hall until Friday, November 9 at 4 p.m. to the attention of Mike Rayball Director of Emergency Management and Planning on the ground floor/basement of Memorial Town Hall located at 534 Loudon Road, Newtonville, N.Y.

The following items are MAJOR NEEDS:

  • Baby Supplies: Baby Formula and Food
  • Batteries
  • Blankets and Towels
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • Clothing: Baby, Child, Adult, Winter Coats, Gloves/Mittens, Hats, Rain Boots, Socks
  • Dog and Cat Food
  • Flashlights
  • First Aid Kits
  • Industrial strength black garbage bags
  • Non-Perishable Food
  • Tarps
  • Toiletries: Toilet Paper, Hand Sanitizer, Mouthwash
  • Work Gloves


Non-Essential Items:

  • Bleach
  • Brooms
  • Candles
  • Contractor Rags/Garbage Bags
  • Extension Cords
  • Shovels
  • Plastic Bins for storage
