NEWS10's Anya Tucker covered Julian Schreibman's camp as he conceded after Tuesday night's results.
KINGSTON, N.Y. - Julian Schreibman conceded after Tuesday night's results favored incumbent opponent Chris Gibson 53 percent to 47 percent.
Schreibman issued the following statement regarding the results of the election:
"I want to congratulate Congressman Chris Gibson on his victory tonight. I wish him good health, energy, and wisdom to represent all of us in the 19th Congressional district. While we have differed on many issues, he has served with honor during his time in Congress. It has been an incredible experience meeting so many wonderful people across the Hudson Valley and the Catskills, and I look forward to the next chapter in my life which, most immediately will mean spending more time with my wonderful family."
The economy, energy and health care were key issues in this heated campaign.
Schreibman, who is pro-choice, has aggressively gone after incumbent Republican Chris Gibson, especially after Gibson voted to de-fund Planned Parenthood and to dismantle so-called "Obama Care."
This campaign has been marred by some vicious attack ads on both sides.
Especially as Schreibman, dubbed by his opponent as nothing more than NYC lawyer, began to close in on Gibson's double digit lead.
