PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Just after midnight Congressman Bill Owens arrived at the American Legion in Plattsburgh to declare victory against his Republican challenger Matt Doheny.
Owens was greeted by cheers and applause from a crowd of his supporters early Wednesday morning, who waited hours to receive the results of the re-election campaign.
Owens spent more than two million dollars on his campaign, in an effort to keep his seat in Washington, D.C., which he's held since 2009.
Owens says his conversation with Doheny was very cordial, Doheny telling the Congressman, "You've done it again. Congratulations."
